Of course.
I really wanna try out this system, that means everyone sends me a mail with what hours they become available (using worldclock) and for how many hours/minutes. If it's less than thirty minutes in a row or begins on something other than :00 or :30 I don't wanna know. Also, limit to a reasonable amount of available periods ;-)
Example: "I am available from
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=13&... plus 2 hours
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=13&... plus 6 hours
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=14&... plus 1 hour
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=14&... plus 1 hour
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=14&... plus 6 hours"
I take this, and send it in an email to olegil@samfundet.no with Subject: Schedule 1
I then process the information at some point during the next 24 hours and send the results back to the list.
Does everyone understand this? (Rhetorical question, I don't want 60 emails saying "yeah, sure" :-) )
If for some reason I don't fully grasp what you mean, you'll get a reply saying "invalid data". Then you go back here and read this message again.
If I understand what you mean, you'll get a receipt saying "Processed". Be kind enough not to reply to that one unless you REALLY want to change something. No chit-chat :-)
If for any reason this doesn't work AT ALL. We will most certainly not try it again ;-)
Now I'm going home to grab some food, and I'll be reading emails sporadically for another three and a half hours. Hopefully some people answer immediately, so I can begin processing :-)

Ole-Egil
In 5 hours I'll finalize the list, I have to be up at a bit before 6 so I won't be up after midnight ;-)
At the moment we have a couple of people who can join in at almost any time, I can join in during 5-6 periods, but not during office hours (I have a deadline looming. Eh, scratch that. I HAD a deadline looming. I'm already 11 days late. And counting ;-) ). We also have a couple of people who can only be there for 2-3 hours each evening (UTC). Since some of our offshorians don't have the same office hours as me, it doesn't like like there'll be more than at most 4 people in a session at ANY point during the 60 hours from wednesday evening UTC to saturday morning UTC.
This is BAD, people. If it doesn't improve, I'm not going to spend another minute trying to organise any of this crap.

Maybe over the weekend would have been better than during the week.

Typically not. You would be amazed how hard it can be to assemble a group of young people (around thirty years old, average one kid) on a Saturday with less than one week notice. Really. I quite often fail. Miserably. And that's when I am trying to organise dinners, movie-evenings, trips to the cinema etc. Think how hard it would be to organise WORK ;-)

The problem isn't the time, the problem is the non responce from the members on this list, instead of saying that it's a bad time, they don't even bother to do that :(
Only one person sofar has asked for a reshedule, 5 people have responded to Olegil's post, and the rest is just doing jack shit.
We have 60+ people on the list, but maybe 1/3 of those are actively posting, and half of that is actually reacting to the proposals made.
If a reshedule is needed, then people should speak up!

Ok, this needs to be got out of the way. Doing virtually _anything_ on a '24 hour turnaround' involving a group of people spanning time-zones is rarely if ever a real possibility.
Adding to that, is personal email access from work- not all of us have it, and the occasional few that have a life as well ;-)
Any 'global' projects all have these same issues...accepting them now and extending anything you're 'like' to see happen in 24 hours to 72 hours generally improves everything, including responses.
Taken unfortunately, from prior first hand experience with a global dev team... :-(

The IRC session is in ~48 hours. We can't use more than about 24 more hours to decide a time for it, or NOONE will be there. We could of course delay everything until June, but I somehow doubt that would help. I'm leaving for band practice now, hopefully I'll have another 4-5 people on the list before I get back (~4 hours), then it's possible to get on the list until a bit before 9 am tomorrow. By then I'll have published the results. At a glance, this looks like a likely candidate: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=1&day=13&... If we say from that time, duration 2-3 hours, half of the people who have contacted me are available). There are other candidates, but not with that kinda coverage. If you don't feel you're important enough to wanna shift the decision of when, but still want in, feel free to still drop me a note so I know you're listening :-) I was hoping for SOMEONE to step up and WANT to do something, though. We have like 4 coders and 60 beta testers here? ;-)

The meetings were for thursday & friday, what Olegil's problem is, is that only 5 people sofar bothered to actually send him a roster of available time.

I'll be out of town until Thud. evening. I'd be interessted participating in the conference, though. If you think I can add something to the discussion, I'd be glad if you could move it one day back (but if not, it's fine with me, too).
thx Jürgen

I can't move it back one day, since I haven't scheduled it yet. Send me the periods you ARE available, and we'll see. Trying to organise this by random discussion is pointless.
I also think people should be willing to admit that maybe they aren't going to be in on all the IRC meetings.
I currently have info from 5 people. If I don't get at least 10 more within 8 hours you people can just bugger off, because I'm not going to keep trying if 50 people are going to give me the silent treatment.
Ole-Egil, slightly pissed off ;-)

If things don't improve i suggest we reset the ml's memberships so those still intrested in cooperation can sign up again, and perhaps setup a seperate ml for the lurkers where we do the occasional update.

Pissed, or pissed off, that's the question :P

Hold yer horses guys! Let's assume not everybody has been able to read their e-mails yet. Getting things organized via the internet just might require even more time than within office walls.

I didn't say we should reset it now did i? ;) Consider it a wakeup call :P

Wasn't the forum intended for that use?

The site will be used to that actually, that was more of a wakeup call ;)
