There was a message posted on the IBrowse mailing list that holds some information that I think is usefull to this project:

Basically saying that Stefan and Andrija have been working on AmiSSL3 for 68k and OS4 but that it required perl which in turn requires ixemul, and that they have had to "sort it out" for OS4, whether this means that perl has been ported (using ixemul) for OS4 or straight to OS4 I dont know, but it does seem likely that Perl is available (or will be shortly) for OS4, and perl is a requirement for OpenOffice.org. It would be good if we can get confirmation of this (Rogue/Entilzha)?
Thanks
Mark

I am trying to see if I can make Perl work with clib2. There is no guaranty that it is going to work, but I need Perl, so I will do what I can to make it work...
PS: I have not been here for about a week, as I have some trouble with network on my uA1-C :-( But that is mostly on Debian GNU/Linux.
Thanks
Mark

I take it you are in contact with Stefan?

It looks like he's done a lot of work on Perl already, may be worth asking Rogue or Entilzha to confirm that its available if you need it?

As we heard on the first IRC meeting, should we get IXemul very soon now. I guess if it is stable enough, will should we get it about the same time, as there is no use for a IXemul dependent Perl, when we don't have IXemul.

The original message (I dont like cross posting without permission which is why Im asking for Rogue/Entilzha to confirm or ask for confirmation on the developers list) could have been read a couple of different ways, one being that Stefan has already modified the perl port to not need ixemul.
Either way its available and we'll soon have an ixemul capable kernel.

Stefan made a native ixemul.library port. This however requires new features in exec, and the appropriate kernel is not released yet.
We'll be releasing an update, though, that will contain the appropriate kernel.

Apart from the fact that the lack of punctuation in that sentence had me gasping for breath, that's bloody good news if Perl is already /en cours/. I'll have an extra biscuit with my coffee to celebrate.
