Well as long as the sub-projects can be used "stand-alone" i do not see much problems there, i.e. curl can be easily tested without OO, same goes for various other "small" components.
I have no idea how it is planed to actually build a openoffice version later, AFAIK OO can be compiled only on the platform it is intended to run on, this is turn means that we have to build it under OS4 (my prefered way anyway), and this requires a lot of other things like python, perl, autoconf, automake to be ported first. If I'm completly wrong here please correct me, but that's how I have currently understand the build process.
