Hello to all. I'm an italian programmer. I started to work as programmer in 1994 as co-founder of LightShock Software (we made some games for the Amiga and PC). Actually I'm programming internet applications and various multimedia things. My skills in brief: - good knowledge of C++, C, PHP and Java. - very good knowlege of networking programming - a "little bit rousted" ability with AmigaOS (i programmed many in house graphic utilities in ASM but completely using the OS 3.1) May I help in some way? Overview of CVS Tree

Hi! I've finally managed it to get my way through the complete CVS tree, looking in every subdirectory and trying to find out what the purpose of that code is ;) I have made a textfile with all informations listed for both the files AND the directories including a small desrcription and the languages used for the code. However I was not able to understand every subdirectory, it would be nice if another person with access to the full CVS tree could validate my observations. When I'm not sure what a specific directory is made for I have added question marks to the list. This maybe a good candidate for the wiki, but I'm not sure if this really fits there, so I send it first here to this list. About the IRC: If a meeting is planed for TODAY I could be there, same for monday. I've only received 3-4 emails, so I'm thinking either people don't want, don't feel they can contribute, or can't. I'm unavailable at this time, so have fun. I doubt I'll try to organise another session in this manner. Anyone have any ideas how to do it? I have now examined the csh sources closer and come to the conclusion that even though it will not be very difficult to port the code to OS4, it will be rather pointless. The csh implementation in question lacks a lot of functionality which would probably be needed for all but the simplest of csh scripts. I will therefore start looking at the tcsh implementation found on aminet to see if this might be more suitable for our needs. -Peter aka. Time to split the discussion?

I have now begun examining the source of the csh implementation and it does not look too bad. The thing that struck me, however is that we might wish to split the mailinglist in two - one for project related discussion and one for development discussion. The risk is of course that one of the lists will stagnate, but the risk of not doing so is to flood this list with messages which are largely irrelevant to any non-programmer. (But perhaps this will make everyone feel more "in the know"?) Well, we can discuss this on _monday_ :-) I just thought I would mention it so people have time to think about it. Now on to the csh status: 1) The issue of csh using SAS/C internal structures seems to be possible to work around using a combination of NameFromFH() or ExamineFH() with freopen(). Possibly there might be some problem if there is a file handle which does not have a name. (Does anyone know is this is so? E.g. will NameFromFH(pr_COS) return "CONSOLE:" on OS4 if called with the default pr_COS of a DOS process run from shell?) 2) Rewriting the internal command handling to accept unix-style paths seems easy enough, though it will take some time to do. 3) There is be a bunch of other dependencies, but most seem minor and should be possible to work around using standard C and AmigaOS 3.1 code. My working plan for now is to continue using SAS/C while removing all obvious incompatibilities and then move the code to gcc to see what further issues pop up. -Peter aka.
