To appease Christophe (and everyone else), here is a quick update.
Work on NAS has been stalled for the last couple of days due to (other) work and feeble attempts at having a life, but has now resumed. I am currently alternating on one hand implementing missing functions in the c-library and on the other hand thinking about how to handle the dependencies on X11.
In other words. Work moves forward, albeit slowly.

I will in about a week begin working on a libX11-wrapper (a shared library) ... I am not able to say when it is done, but I will be working on it this summer, and I hope that it will be able to get used by OOo for the GUI integration.

Sounds like a good thing. I will concentrate on the non-X11 stuff to begin with anyway but I will be sure to write you a line when I get to the stage that I need to do something about it.
